University of Western Australia (UWA) 是西澳州首府 Perth 的一所公立研究型大學。該校於1911 年 開始成為大學。UWA 是 Western Australia (WA) 最古老的大學，也是澳州第六古老的大學。由於其歷史和聲譽，大學被列為“ sandstone universities ”之一，這是對每個州最古老的大學的非正式稱呼。University of Western Australia 亦是澳洲「八大」傳統名牌大學之一，該集團由八所研究最密集、排名最好的澳州大學組成。
大學被評為世界前 100 所大學之一。它在各個領域中對西澳和國家發展與繁榮皆有貢獻。自 2012 年以來，專業教育團隊屢獲殊榮，已獲得 4 項 Teaching Excellence Awards、3 項 Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning 和 33 項 Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning。此外，大學亦培養出多名社會或政界名人，例如澳洲總理 Bob Hawke、五位最高法院法官、七位西澳州長、儲備銀行行長 H. C. Coombs 及一位諾貝爾獎得主。該大學至今已培養了 108 名 Rhodes Scholars。
大學距離 Perth 市僅 10 分鐘路程，坐落於本州繁榮的黃金地段。大學在西南設有 Albany Campus (距珀斯 5 小時車程)，在 Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre 設有 UWA Health Campus ，主要為醫學、牙科和生物醫學科學專業的學生上課，提供最先進的教學和研究設施。除此之外，還有設有大型圖書館、體育館、游泳中心、以及不同種類的學會以供選擇。並且擁有 80 多個研究所和中心，包括海洋研究所、能源中心、能源和礦產研究所以及軟件實踐中心。大學還獲得了州政府對 International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research 的資助。該中心是一個科學、工程和數據密集型天文學的多學科研究中心。
